28 August 2019 Sinara-Transport Machines and Russian Railways Intend to Supply Track Equipment to Cuba

Within the framework of the PRO // Motion.Expo international railway fair, Sinara-Transport Machines Holding and Russian Railways International concluded a Memorandum of intentions. General Director of STM Holding Viktor Lesh and General Director of engineering company Russian Railways Sergei Pavlov signed the document.

In accordance with the Memorandum, the parties identified priority areas for joint development of cooperation in implementation of the project of restoration and modernization of railway infrastructure of the Republic of Cuba, including supply of track equipment. According to intentions, high-performance machines will be manufactured at STM production sites.

Currently, STM Holding’s Track Division combines capacities of Kaluga Plant Remputmash and Kalugaputmash enterprise, where not only production, but also current repair and maintenance of track equipment is performed. Russian Railways International relies on advanced Russian and foreign technologies, and also uses the most advanced equipment and materials from leading domestic and global manufacturers, as well as technical solutions that have no analogues in the world.

Sinara-Transport Machines is implementing projects in Cuba that include not only supply of locomotives, but also modernization of a depot in Cuban capital. Our countries have long been linked by close economic ties, we completely understand demands of this market. New manufacturing and maintenance technologies are being introduced in the Havana depot today. It is important for us not only to produce machines, taking into account needs and requirements of the customer. We implement an educational program for our clients, which will allow us to master necessary professional competencies as part of the after-sales service of new equipment supplied,” General Director of STM Holding Viktor Lesh said.

As part of the project, STM Holding plans to supply 75 TGM8KM diesel locomotives with a capacity of 1,200 hp until 2021. 43 of them are already shipped to the Union of Railways of Cuba.  More than 250 people have been trained as part of the advanced training program for personnel of repair and maintenance depots of the Union of Cuban Railways.
